AutoSilent App Reviews

Much better.

Its gotten better over several revisions.

Battery killer

Wont work if you dont enable location services. If you do it will drain your battery in less than a day. I deleted it. Waste of money.

I dont know why I purchased it.

Only except for the location thing, everything was on iPhone itself with Do Not Disturb. I didnt know very much about it so I bought this app. The result of ignorance of knowledge.

Indispensable

This app is absolutely critical to me to ensure my phone is quiet when it needs to be. I have used it now for several years and it has been great. The developer has been updating it regularly and has consistently addressed issues. I highly recommend it!

Great improvement to DND on iPhone

My needs are simple - there area times that all I want to do is silence my phone for a period, maybe 30 minute up to a couple of hours. But when I use the iPhone’s built-in functionality, I often forgot to turn DND off. AutoSilent has fixed this as well as given me much more functionality if I ever need it. I over-looked the basic timer feature of AutoSilent when I checked out the product on iTunes so I sent an email to the developer suggesting a new feature. Niv Gutherz replied within minutes and pointed me to what I was missing. Great service; great product.

“Does what it says on the tin!”

No muss. No fuss. Just silence when you want it, alarms when you dont. This app is completely satisfying. The location stuff works like a dream, the calendar integration – albeit a little confusing at first — works perfectly. And the ability to tell the phone "be quiet for two hours then turn the alarms back on" is EXACTLY what I was looking for in the first place.

Does just what you need it to

This app does one thing, and it does it really well. If you need your phone to be silent but you find you’re constantly forgetting to turn off the ringer, AutoSilent will look at whatever calendar(s) you want and automatically mute and unmute your phone. It will also mute it when you reach a particular location, on a predetermined schedule (e.g., you work 8-5 but don’t have things on your calendar the whole time), or for a certain length of time (e.g., you need not to be bothered for 25 minutes while you finish something or during an hour and 38 minute movie). I’ve used it for a little more than a year, and it’s great. I had a minor technical issue, and my emails to the developer were returned promptly, and the issue was resolved quickly. This is one app that is definitely worth paying for.

"Timer" silent mode is very sluggish

I would really like this app, except that the "Timer" silent mode operates very sluggishly on my iPhone 5. If its running and I try to hit the stop button, it takes a LONG time to respond.

Just a week was enough to like it!

Beautiful application, very well developed. It does what I was looking: Keep my iPhone quiet while Im busy or doing important things. A question to support was responded almost immediately, with the right explanation (looking for the option to allow the phone ring on selected contacts, feature actually limited by Apple). My only little complaint is the battery usage, but I understand it because the app needs to track all the events. Absolutely recommended for people that needs to stay focused on their tasks.

Works on iOS 8

Does exactly as stated and works perfect for me. Goes by my calendar so it auto silents for class and sets back to ring at end of class

Does the job but falls short

The app works as described. However, my big issue is that Location Services has to be on ALL THE TIME even if you are not using the feature to silence your phone by location. All this does is DRAIN MY BATTERY. Most apps are vey focused on conserving battery life. It would also be nice to have the ability to select phone numbers that are never silenced. Basically provide the same capability as the iOS "Allow Calls From" feature. Its also almost impossible to make 3 calls in 2 minutes to have a call not be silenced. I think the iPhones "Repeated Calls" features that requires 2 calls in 3 minutes is a better limit. I thought the app would be much more feature rich for the price. I now own the app so Ill keep it but wont us it until they get the Location Services issue fixed. Very disappointed.

Great app

Ive been using AutoSilent for quite awhile now and it continues to improve. Ive recently need support and received a very quick and accurate response to my inquiry. The location features work very well and the ability to mark individual calendar items to silent the ringer is one of my favorite features!

Useful but....

This app needs the ability to set an individual contact, or multiple contacts, to ring when in silent mode. With this addition it would deserve 5 stars.

Nice program

Work decreed, no more ringing cell phones. Installed this program and it took care of it. When at work, the phone doesnt ring, and when not, it works normaly. REally does help a lot. Had one small problem on instalation, sent a notice for help, and in an hour had the answer back. Really unusually fast response.

Works great except …

My only qualms about this app is that location services and background updates are required to be on at all times which burn up not only the battery life, but also eat up data as is is constantly looking for your location and other data. It works doing what it is supposed to do, but I would like it to be able to run scheduled silencing without needing my location or background app running. This shouldnt be necessary. Added note: alarms still sound while phone is on silent. To some this is great, to others, not so great. Just a heads up.

Very worthwhile

This app does what its supposed to do and does it well. The battery use is acceptable, better than before. A very useful app.

No good

It works but only when you have the app open. Not in the background, but actually on your screen. If you have to open the app to silence it you may as well just silence it your self.

It works, but...

First, its a real battery killer. It doesnt show up that way though in the battery page in settings, so its a bit deceptive. Perhaps thats an iOS limitation. But until I turned it off, my battery would be down to half by early afternoon. After, it ends the day at about 75%, so we are talking about a huge drain. Biggest way to tell though is that when on, iPhone reports standby usage equaling actual usage. When off, standby is much lower as expected. Second, the options in the app are very confusing and offer no details. For example, you can disable it as a background task, but it still works in the background. You can prevent it from always accessing location services, but either way the location icon never turns off (unless you actually turn off calendar silent). Unfortunately, the first part isnt the apps fault (the second is). It would seem iOS doesnt give you access to do this without constantly using location services. Still, while I love the functionality, its just not with it if I can barely get through the day without the battery dying.

Teacher says: Get this app!

Why this app? Reason 2: It turns your ringer (etc.) off. Reason 1: It turns it back on. Very useful: the timer feature. As a teacher and a professor, I recommend all of my students get this app. It saves a lot of grief and avoids unnecessary disturbances in class. As a student, you need this app so you dont have to remember to switch your phone to silent before coming to class. As a father and a husband, I need this app so I dont have to remember to switch my phone back on after class. If your phone is running hot or if your battery is running down, thats not because of this app. Its just the NSA rifling through your phone data... That said; if you are running an older iOS, your phone may be registering its location more frequently than it is supposed to. Run the update and it should solve the problem.

No good

App has to be running to silence app, also requires location services and kills the battery! I would give five stars if it didnt use as much battery and if it would simply silence my phone at a particular time each day.
